Every day 51 Albertans will hear the words “you have cancer.”
Wellspring Calgary exists to help those who hear these words live well with cancer.
Wellspring Calgary has been delivering cancer supportive care since 2007 to anyone living with any type of cancer at any point on their journey. Resources and programs are available free of charge and without referral to those diagnosed, their families and primary caregivers. Our vision is no one has to face cancer alone.
In 2017 alone, 4,898 members had access to 31,848 hours of program delivery. Supporting this, 186 volunteers donated 11,626 hours of their time. In addition, another 200 event-day volunteers donated 1,050 hours of their time. All we do is provided solely by the community – Wellspring receives no core government funding.
Programs and resources fostering mind-body-spirit learning are informed by evidence and facilitated by professional leaders in their respective fields. The Wellspring Calgary Speaker Series is open to the general public and features presentations by leading experts in the cancer field on a variety of topics.
Wellspring Calgary collaborates with and is endorsed by healthcare professionals in the cancer supportive care community. People from rural southern Alberta and neighbouring provinces also visit our non-residential facility for support and information.
The work of Wellspring Calgary is funded solely through the generosity of our community via individual gifts and events. Donations are gratefully accepted and are CRA tax receiptable. Our charitable number is 809013675RR0001.
Wellspring Calgary regularly gathers member feedback to measure and validate the benefits and value of the programs provided.
Wellspring Calgary is sincerely grateful for the support of community hosted fundraisers, including Light It Up Calgary and Cancervive. Wellspring Calgary hosts two signature fundraisers each year: Toupee for a Day and Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge.
