We wish to express gratitude to our wonderful team of volunteers whose collective efforts contribute to the heartbeat of Wellspring Alberta.

Your commitment of time and talent is a gift of immeasurable worth. Volunteers embody the kindness, compassion and community that Wellspring Alberta extends to all who seek support in dealing with cancer.

Current positions:

  • Community Connector – we are looking to build our volunteer community team regional and remote communities in Alberta
  • Childminding Volunteer – we are looking for childminding volunteers to provide good care for a member’s child/children while they attend a program. 
  • Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Roundtable  – committed to diversity and inclusion efforts by sharing your expertise and experiences to improve cancer support
  • Energy Practitioner – Reiki, Therapeutic Touch and Healing Touch practitioners offer members with treatment to provide relaxation and stress relief
  • Front Desk Volunteers  – support one of our three houses in person, by supporting members along with administrative support
  • Library Volunteers – library volunteers provide oversight to the Wellspring Resource Library as well as content management.
  • Online Program Hosts – support our program team to bring online programs to our members
  • Peer Support (Via Phone) – if you have a lived experience with cancer as a caregiver or a patient and you would like to offer support to others

Whether you have experienced your own cancer journey, have been a caregiver for someone with cancer, or you are someone who has gifts and skills to share, Wellspring Alberta welcomes and values your contribution.

We love it when our members reach a point in their journey where they are ready to transition from wearing a member hat to a volunteer hat. Having experience as a Wellspring member enables you to support new members in a unique way as a volunteer.

Sample volunteer positions

Front Desk: Front Desk volunteers contribute to the warm, welcoming atmosphere of our centres by greeting visitors, giving tours of the building, and responding to inquiries over the phone. This role also includes providing program information, offering program suggestions, and assisting in registration. Volunteers also assist with light administrative duties. Volunteers are required to participate in the training provided.

Online Program Hosts: Supporting our online Zoom program leaders by welcoming members into the room, creating a safe space for them and supporting members and program leaders from the technical side of the programming.  

Energy Volunteer: Energy volunteers offer Wellspring members one-on-one session in Healing Touch, Therapeutic Touch, and Reiki. These sessions take place in one of our energy rooms at each centre. Please carefully read the qualifications required for these roles listed in the volunteer application form.  

Events: We require volunteers to help us with our various fundraising events. For more information, contact events@wellspringalberta.ca.

Other Areas: Wellspring volunteers are invited to assist with a variety of other roles, including child minding, library duties, database support, gardening, fundraising, committee work, professional support (communications, HR, finance etc…) and special projects (specific to the unique skills of individual volunteers). Please indicate in the volunteer application form what type of position you are interested in, or if you have specific skills you would like to offer.

All volunteer positions include training and a Wellspring orientation. Once you have completed the volunteer application form a Centre Manager will be in touch.
