Cancer Support Outreach

Serving all of southern Alberta and beyond

Wellspring Calgary’s vision is to ensure no one has to face cancer alone, regardless of where you live. We have extended our reach across southern Alberta, providing programs and services that meet the emotional, social and restorative needs of people living with cancer, their caregivers, and families.

The need for cancer support is significant. Communities further away from the city of Calgary do not have cancer support closer to home. As part of our five year strategic plan, and with support from Alberta Cancer Foundation, Wellspring Calgary has set in motion a three year operational plan to co-create sustainable cancer support communities in the region spanning Red Deer to the Canadian border.

Wellspring Calgary created a new full time Southern Alberta Lead position to solely focus on this important outreach project so that no one has to face cancer alone regardless of where they live.

Since the strategy began in March 2020 Wellspring Calgary has continued to support more people living with cancer from across southern Alberta than ever before.

How do we support individuals in rural and remote communities?

Wellspring Calgary is following a ‘Community Participatory Approach’ to ensure that any new initiatives are driven by the community and the needs of those living with cancer. We welcome the opportunity to learn from you as the expert of your community so that together we can build sustainable cancer support communities and co-create local programs throughout southern Alberta.

“I would say to anyone who has cancer, sign up for Wellspring support and whatever else you do, don’t miss it! There is nothing worse than thinking you are the only one in the world with this problem. Everyone battling cancer should know about Wellspring. When you meet others who understand and can relate, it recharges your hope.”
