Join the Wellspring Community
We look forward to welcoming our members and volunteers when things in our world allow it. If you are interested in volunteering, please consider sharing your time to assist us at: Carma House, Randy O’Dell House, southern Alberta, and our Online community.
Whether you have experienced your own cancer journey, have been a caregiver for someone with cancer, or you are someone who has gifts and skills to share, Wellspring Calgary welcomes and values your contribution.
Volunteers fortify every level of our organization.
By investing your time and talents you:
- help others
- make a positive contribution to your city
- develop new skills
- meet amazing people
Are you a Wellspring member thinking of becoming a Wellspring volunteer? We love it when our members reach a point in their journey where they are ready to transition from wearing a member hat to a volunteer hat. Having experience as a Wellspring member enables you to support new members in a unique way as a volunteer. Please note that for confidentiality and professional reasons volunteers can no longer take programs as members. Becoming a Wellspring volunteer is a wonderful way to stay involved with Wellspring.
When we are back in full operation we will be seeking volunteers for a multitude of positions including, but not limited to:
Front Desk: Front Desk volunteers contribute to the warm, welcoming atmosphere of our centres by greeting visitors, giving tours of the building, and responding to inquiries over the phone. This role also includes providing program information, offering program suggestions, and assisting in registration. Volunteers also assist with light administrative duties. Volunteers are required to participate in the training provided.
Online Program Hosts: Supporting our online Zoom program leaders by welcoming members into the room, creating a safe space for them and supporting members and program leaders from the technical side of the programming.
Energy Volunteer: Energy volunteers offer Wellspring members one-on-one session in Healing Touch, Therapeutic Touch, and Reiki. These sessions take place in one of our energy rooms at each centre. Please carefully read the qualifications required for these roles listed in the volunteer application form.
Other Areas: Wellspring volunteers are invited to assist with a variety of other roles, including child minding, library duties, database support, gardening, fundraising, committee work, professional support (communications, HR, finance etc…) and special projects (specific to the unique skills of individual volunteers). Please indicate in the volunteer application form what type of position you are interested in, or if you have specific skills you would like to offer.
All volunteer positions include training and a Wellspring orientation. Once you have completed the volunteer application form a Centre Manager will be in touch.
COVID-19 note: We are not currently onboarding new volunteers, other than in a few exceptions where specialized skills are needed. To note your interest in volunteering, please complete the below application form and we will be in touch closer to our re-launch date, likely in 2021. Thank you for your interest in Wellspring.
(Applicants must be 18 years of age or older)
